SYSLOG for IBM i

A logging integration pattern that forwards IBM i security and operational events into SIEM or centralized monitoring platforms.

Definition

SYSLOG for IBM i is the pattern of converting and forwarding IBM i events into a format that centralized security or monitoring tools can use. It helps SOC and IT teams see IBM i activity alongside other enterprise systems.

The project should define which IBM i events matter, how fields are mapped, which alerts require action, and who owns investigation when an event appears in the SIEM.

Example

A company may forward IBM i audit events through SYSLOG so suspicious sign-ons or privileged activity can be reviewed in the same workflow as other security alerts.
