Truckload Dispatch and Accounting

Innovative Access Plus Truckload Dispatch

Truckload carrier operations software from the Innovative Computing line, built for IBM midrange systems since 1969 and acquired by TMW Systems in 2009 along with roughly 300 IBM i customers.

Program Overview

Access Plus comes out of Innovative Computing Corporation, a Nashville company that had been building enterprise operations software for truckload carriers since 1969, first on the mainframe, then the S/34, and eventually on IBM i. Innovative launched hosted delivery of its software in 1999, and those offerings became known as IES Access and Access Plus. TMW Systems acquired the company in December 2009 through its parent BetaZone, picking up roughly 300 customers including some of the largest fleets in the country, and committed to continue selling, supporting and developing the product line. Trimble owns it today.

For a buyer, the interesting part is the customer profile rather than the feature list. This product ended up inside large truckload fleets, which means the operational assumptions baked into it are truckload assumptions. Evaluating it against an LTL or final-mile operation is a mismatch worth naming early rather than discovering in a demo.

Best Fit

Best fit for truckload carriers already running Innovative or Access Plus on IBM i who are deciding whether to stay, move to a subscription arrangement, or migrate to one of Trimble's newer transportation management products.

What this program helps with

  • Enterprise operations software for the truckload carrier segment, developed for IBM midrange systems
  • Part of the Innovative Enterprise Software line, delivered as IES Access and Access Plus
  • Available on subscription alongside Innovative Access and TL2000
  • Backed by a customer base that historically included large national truckload fleets

What to vet before shortlist

  • Ask Trimble directly which Innovative products are actively developed today versus supported for existing customers only
  • Confirm the product fits truckload operations specifically before evaluating it against LTL or final-mile workflows
  • Map the migration story Trimble will propose, since its current marketing leads with cloud transportation management products rather than the IBM i lines
