Start with proof of recoverability, not backup destination alone. Serious IBM i backup evaluations should compare save scope, Integrated File System coverage, restore workflow clarity, offsite automation, retention control, immutability or offline-copy options, and how much daily supervision the platform still requires.
Price matters, but low storage cost does not help if restore testing is weak or reporting hides gaps until a failure occurs. Buyers should compare how each platform proves that the environment can actually be restored under pressure.
