Power BI for AS400

A reporting pattern that connects AS/400 or IBM i data to Microsoft Power BI through governed Db2 for i access, extracts, replication, or APIs.

Definition

Power BI for AS400 describes the process of making IBM i data usable in Power BI dashboards and reports. The connection may use Db2 connectivity, scheduled extracts, replicated reporting stores, APIs, or a combination of those patterns.

The important buying issue is governance. A successful Power BI project protects production performance, controls user access, documents refresh ownership, and keeps sensitive fields from spreading into unmanaged reports.

Example

A finance team may use Power BI for AS400 reporting to analyze order margin while IT controls how Db2 for i data is extracted and refreshed.
