Modernization in IBM i environments rarely means one single project. It can involve interface updates, APIs, workflow redesign, reporting improvements, development process change, or selective application refactoring.
The strongest modernization plans are specific about what problem they are solving first. That is what keeps the term from becoming vague management language.
