IBM Storage Insights is a cloud-based monitoring and analytics service that sits above an array's own Storage Virtualize software, adding capacity forecasting, performance trend visibility, and proactive alerting. It is a separate licensed layer from the array's core operating software, typically evaluated once a FlashSystem or other Storage Virtualize based array is already operational.
For AS400/IBM i environments with external SAN storage, Storage Insights is a monitoring and reporting decision, not a replacement for the array's own replication or encryption licensing.
